How much horsepower does a BMW M3 have?

How much horsepower does a BMW M3 have?

Harry Diepholz|

When it comes to buying a car, you have to consider everything from the make to the model. The BMW M3 is one of the breakout cars for 2018 and whenever the M is next to the 3 on a car model, you can expect great things - most people are in agreement with that fact. The 2018 BMW M3 is the car that has been reviewed for its oversized grille and styling, its automatic gearbox, and its ability to turn any driver into a tranquil daily one. It’s an impressive car and understanding its horsepower and specifications can help you to decide whether you should buy it or not.

How much horsepower does a BMW M3 have?

M3

The BMW M3 has a twin-turbo 2.0-liter inline-six. It has a horsepower of 473 and the only transmission on offer is a six-speed. There is an M3 Competition to consider, and that has a horsepower of 503 and it’s only offered with the eight-speed automatic, too. The M3 Competition has a standard rear-wheel drive, and every single M3 has adaptive dampers and brake-pedal feet that are wholly adjustable.

Every car can be packed in with stronger carbon-ceramic brakes, which have some of the gold-painted calipers - super cool. The E46 generation of BMW M3 was the fastest M3 between 2000-2006 and this is coming from its 3.2 liters, 338 hp engine, with tires that would light upon command. The M3 Competition has a more powerful engine than the standard M3 but the transmission is different. The E46 M3 was the biggest and most powerful M3 at the time, and it turned into a speed machine.

What about the BMW M3 GTR?

The brains behind the BMW could have used the V8 to race, especially with the new weight and power penalties that come under new regulations. They didn't, they chose to pull out of the ALMS and end the GTR at its 493 horsepower.

How much does the new M3 cost?

As there are two different M3 Sedan cars on the market right now, it’s important to note that they differ in terms of performance first and foremost. The M3 cars are priced between $69,900 and $73,000 and the specs are fantastic. With a 19-20 Combined MPG and a rear-wheel drive, the 2022 M3 Sedan is up there with 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg while on the highway. All-wheel-drive has lowered it to around 22 mpg.

Is it comfortable?

BMW M3

A lot of modern performance cars allow you some settings control, but the M3 is something else. It takes the concept of settings control to the limit and there’s a setup button in the car, too. All you have to do is press it and you’ll see all of the options for settings in front of you. There’s an infotainment screen, changing everything from the sensitivity of the brakes and you can even control how loud the exhaust is, too. There is a range of configuration options, but there are preset modes in the box, too, so you don't have to worry about configuring them yourself. You can fine-tune it as time goes on and everything in Comfort mode is relaxed. The comforts of the M3 are worth every bit of the cost. The turbocharged six-cylinder engine is hushed at low revs, and it has a smooth gearbox. The adaptive suspension allows the car to float gently, too.

Specs on Specs

Other than the M badge on this BMW, the interior is the same as the rest of the 3-series cars and that means that there is the same design, space for passengers, and the same visibility as the rest of the cars in the group. M badge cars are known to perform really well and they always exceed expectations with their materials and the quality of the build. The M3 has more microsuede than most to give it that racy aesthetic drivers love, but it’s worth it.

There is a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and it can help you to switch to M View, which is available in the sportier drive modes. Anyone can activate these using the red buttons on the steering wheel and when you shift to M View, you add a shift indicator and replace the tachometer with an easier read. The lightweight front seats are heavily bolstered, and they are available, too. These are standard on the Competition version, and you get amazing driving support without sacrificing your comfort along the journey.

You can customize the the front end by updating the BMW M3 2021 grille to a carbon fiber CSL Style for a racing look.
